The club formed in 1997. Some years earlier, there had been an Eastbourne group of amateur cine filmmakers.
Starting under the name, Eastbourne Video Club, meetings were first at the Heritage Centre; then, requiring more space, moved to St Wilfred’s at Pevensey Bay, and subsequently to St Luke’s, Stone Cross about 15 years ago.
As members came from Hailsham, Seaford, Uckfield and St Leonards as well as Eastbourne, the club was renamed East Sussex Moviemakers.
Film
Film making has always been the aim for all members, the best of which have earned awards at county and regional film festivals. More recently, with help of local amateur actors, films of quality have been made. Such titles as Fish & Chips and Those Are The Days – brought the Club some success. However, good films made in the past are always worth watching again.
We would always be pleased to welcome anyone with even just a partial interest in filmmaking, behind, or in front of, the camera. The Club members meet twice a month. The first meeting of each month is either at a member’s home on a Tuesday afternoon, or out on location to film something of interest – such ‘activities’ can be on other days of the week.
On the third Tuesday of each month meetings are in ‘our club room’ (ground floor) at St Luke’s Parish Centre, Stone Cross. BN24 5SL from 2.0pm until 4.0. with a cup of tea and biscuits during the afternoon. There is no charge for ‘new comers’ first three meetings!
